
How we use your information
Who are we?
Medicar are a private ambulance service based in North East Essex. We offer services to private customers, Hospitals, Integrated Care Boards, Hospitals, Social Services, Care Homes and more. Our vehicles are fully equipped estates, with 6-foot Ferno-Washington stretchers which convert to a chair (Maximum weight 18 stone), essential medical supplies (no drugs) and carry portable oxygen, ready for requirements.

Our patient transport drivers and registered nurses are all professionally qualified. Evidence of qualification and identification can be asked for and is carried at all times. In addition all staff employed by Medicar are DBS checked.

What information do you hold on me?
We only collect the minimum amount of information required to carry out our service. This includes NHS Number, Name, Date of Birth, Address, Contact Details, Medical Conditions, Medication, Appointment Details.
What do you need my information for?
We only use the information on you to assist us in making sure we can provide the care and support you need on your journey. We also use the information as evidence of what we have done for quality checks and evidence / audit. Without this important detail, we could not support you properly or ensure our service continues to improve.
Do you share my information?
We may share your information with other professionals dealing with your care. But normally you will be aware of this as we would inform you. We may also share anonymised information on the support you have received. But you cannot be identified in this information.

Do you protect my information?
We take the job of securing your information very seriously. All staff are aware of the risks to your information and as such take precautions. This includes not leaving information unattended and having user names and passwords to access your information on our systems.
Can i access my information?
Yes. You can request a copy of your information. But we also, under law, must inform you of how we use your information, like this notice. We must amend any errors and you can request information is erase or object to its use.
Are you able to use my information lawfully?
Yes. Under Data Protection Law, we must identify a lawful basis before we can process your information. Under the General Data Protection Regulations, ours is Article 6 (1) (e) and Article 9 (2) (h). This means using the information for health and social care reasons. We also use Article 6 (1) (f) Legitimate Interests of the organisation.
